BLACKHEATH SPRING

BLACKHEATH SPRING.

Come
Spring!
Gather
your forces.
Spread scented breezes
to gently blow a second wind
over these old garden bones and up the stalks of jonquils,
robust daffodils and snow drops.
Frolic now with mauve,
and white violets,
pink heather and blue rosemary
rusticating on dry-stone walls.
Frightened lizards scamper and hide
far from hungry kookaburra eyes.
Sulphur-crested cockatoos scratch out early seedlings.
Green parrots search for nesting trees.
Garden now is ready to host
a party
for reckless wild orange poppies
and wanton daisies.
Young Japanese cherry blossoms weep beneath a radiant cobalt sky.
Perfumed Daphne mingles well with
purple mint
to cascade over
stepping stones.
Tree ferns snuggle up against old grey round timber logs,
Buds appear on rhododendrons.
Mountain air
Is crisp
and
sweet.
Welcome
Spring!

Cheers!
