TURANDOT

TURANDOT
Calm,
bright-
harbour
scripted scene.
Lively foyer crowd.
Chatter pre-show, building expectations.
Sydney Opera House explodes with joyful radiance.
Musicians vibrate in rhythm.
Choir ebbs and flows with precision,
capturing thrill sound.
Tenor laments, audience intake and exhale,
carried over the bridge of reality.
Soprano soars, drama unfolds.
Dreamlike, people leave
In wonder.
Silent sounds
inside
heads
Sing.

With this Fibonacci poem I tried to capture the feeling of the opening night of Turandot, performed by Opera Australia.
The whole night was the event.  Travelling to Sydney, meeting a friend, dinner by the harbour with the backdrop of Sydney Harbour Bridge, the lights of the city, the beauty of the winter night, the warmth of staff reception, the seating and overflowing of good will from the audience, the performance itself. Sounds so sublime and earnest delivered from a dedicated cast created wonder in me.
