BLACKHEATH AUTUMN
Ruby
reds,
patterned
pathways of
mosaic treasures,
gilded browns for tourists’ feet to
delightfully dance down Wentworth Street, unmindful of
local traffic and startled stares
from footpath-bonded
children.
Freedom!
For all we know, found,
being silly on asphalt’s patch.
Wind demons, unseen,
whisper in their ears,
“Joyful be,
capture this in a
photograph, to match
the grandeur of the Taj Mahal,
Sydney’s Opera House,
Or Coles, at Leura.”
Nature’s mighty conceptual canvas,
a modern mandala to be
swept
away.
Remembered,
on a ‘rainy’ day.
